Former Strip Club to Become Boutique Hotel
Jilly’s, the once iconic Toronto strip club, closed its doors this past summer. With over 30 years in the business behind them, the ending was bittersweet for its staff, patrons, and the Riverdale neighbourhood. Jilly’s was a reminder of bygone days and a wilder side to the newly gentrified area. Its signage and decor hadn’t changed in decades, so it was like going back in time for those that decided to enter to watch girls dance and drop their clothes on the stage.
The strip club closed because the Broadview Hotel where it was housed was bought by Streetcar Developments and they plan to turn it into a boutique hotel. The 123-year-old building will be completely renovated and restored to its former glory. It will boast 58 suites, a restaurant, rooftop terrace, and cafe. Who knows, maybe the vibes of strippers and club-goers past will live on in these walls and the new hotel will become the sexiest place to stay in Toronto.
